KPI

IP4 proposes the following KPIs to measure the influence of the IP4 TDs:

  • Increase the multimodal usage and the total number of passengers.
  • Increase the usage of cross-border train services.
  • Improve the quality of services: facilitate the travel planning for users and reduce the time spent in planning travel; less time spent searching and booking tickets, less time and better user experience in waiting for the transport mode and rearranging the journey.
  • Reduce costs: increase the overall occupancy rate with limitation of peak and off-peak periods.

With the IF being a core and integral part of the IP4 activities, it is consequently normal for SPRINT to directly contribute to the abovementioned KPIs. In the Shift2Rail MAAP, there is an indicative quantification for the KPIs in question, but it is only under close cooperation with the Shift2Rail CCA that it will be possible to evaluate the real impact SPRINT will have on these initial targets (i.e. increase by 30% the number of international rail ticket sales, threefold reduction in time of booking an end-to-end journey, fourfold increase in traveller satisfaction etc.).

It is also worth noting, as mentioned in the Shift2Rail MAAP, that the ecosystem’s economics of Mobility Service Providers will benefit by the elimination of the need for any common and scheduled “platform” development. By supporting full semantic interoperability of interchangeable and loosely coupled tools, data and services, within a distributed “web of transportation”, multiple concurrent implementations can be developed independently by specialist suppliers and co-exist competitively. This will apply downward market pressure to the cost of sourcing tools and technologies for travellers, retailers and operators, while allowing them to retain full control of the choice of business models through which to consume or provide value. The market of transport services (shopping, ticketing but also services related to guidance) will be opened thanks to the IF. The fact that the heterogeneity of the transport market is now masked by the interoperability layer will decrease the investment costs for advanced IT solutions and will open a new competitive market.
